What is Beta Alanine and how does it work?

Beta-alanine might be a non-essential amino acid, but it definitely pulls its weight when it comes to exercise performance. Unlike other amino acids that build proteins, beta-alanine does something a bit different — it helps your body create carnosine, a powerful compound stored in your muscles.

Here's where it gets interesting: Carnosine helps buffer acid build-up in your muscles during high-intensity training. That's the stuff that causes that burning feeling and brings your workout to a grinding halt. While your body usually has plenty of L-histidine (the other building block of carnosine), it often runs short on beta-alanine. That's why adding it through supplements can give your body the boost it needs to top up those carnosine stores and help you keep going, rep after rep.

How does beta-alanine work?

When you push your body — whether you're lifting, sprinting or smashing a circuit — your muscles produce hydrogen ions. These ions drop your muscle pH and contribute to fatigue (hello, muscle burn). Carnosine steps in as a buffer, helping soak up those ions, so your muscles can keep firing.

Supplementing with beta-alanine helps raise your carnosine levels over time, which may support greater muscular endurance and help you stay stronger for longer. It's not about instant results — it's about building up your muscle's natural defence system so you can train harder and bounce back better.

Please Note: Labels and serving sizes may differ across batches but the amount you're receiving (250g) is the same. Some tubs are '3g' serves and some are '1.5g' serves. You can adjust your serving size depending on how much you use.

Supplements Facts

Directions For Use

Mix 1–2 scoops (as per label directions) with 200 mL of cold water. Take once daily, ideally around 30 minutes before training. On rest days, take at the same time of day to maintain consistent carnosine levels.

To reduce the chance of tingling (paraesthesia), the daily serving can be split into two or three smaller doses spread throughout the day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
